Below you will find a few questions and answers about a ministry designed to help you get connected as a member of Clarke-Venable Baptist Church. We hope you find this page helpful, informative, and encouraging. We also hope you will consider enrolling in one of our “Get Connected” meetings. As always, we are here to help you along your journey any way we can.
What is “Get Connected?”
“Get Connected” is a ministry designed to help people “find out how to get connected” at Clarke-Venable. We actually use several terms or phrases that mean the same thing as, “get connected.” They are these: “Join the Church,” “Unite in fellowship,” or “Become a member.” Membership is important to us. In fact, it is so important that we launched a ministry designed specifically to walk you through that process. In the “Get Connected” meeting we will talk about what membership is and how to become a member. We will also answer any questions that you might have about becoming a member of Clarke-Venable.
Who is “Get Connected” for?
“Get Connected” is for anyone seeking to become a member of the Clarke-Venable family or for anyone wanting more information about Clarke-Venable.
What is the format for “Get Connected?”
The format is a meeting with our pastor, Mark Vincent, in his office at 9:45 on a Sunday morning. Dates are listed below. Bro. Mark will share a few things with you about membership and why it is important, answer just about any question you might have, and he will probably share some homemade cookies with you.
Will I have to read to the group, sing, pray out loud, or preach?
NO! This is a very informal time to visit and get to know each other and our ministry staff. Besides, we don’t want anything to take away from the joy of homemade cookies!
What are the dates for “Get Connected?”
“Get Connected” is designed to be a one-time meeting. These one-time meetings are scheduled throughout the year. You can attend a “Get Connected” meeting in 2016 either on September 18 or November 13. “Get Connected” meetings in 2017 are scheduled in these months: January, March, May, July, September, and November. This page will be updated continually to reflect the specific dates of the “Get Connected” meeting to help you find a date that fits you best.
So, the pastor is only accessible six days out of the year. Is this correct?
No! No! No! Mark and all of our staff love your questions and look forward to any time that we can visit. A visit with another follower of Jesus is truly an incredible gift to us. The opportunity to hear how God has impacted your journey is nothing less than a treasure to us.
We have children. Can we bring them to the “Get Connected” meeting?
Absolutely. We love kids. Jesus said, “Let the little children come.” We say, “We can’t improve on what Jesus said,” so bring them if you want to. If you have been attending and your children are settled in a Sunday School class, you can do either. You decide. We trust your judgment.
I haven’t been in Church in a long time. Should I come to the “Get Connected” meeting?
Yes. Come on.
The last Church we attended was not a Baptist Church. Should we come to the “Get Connected” meeting?
